I am beyond proud of my little sister. When I graduated many years ago now I didn't think the day of her graduation would arrive as quickly as it has.
She has grown into such a talented and wonderful young lady through all the trials shes faced since she was 8 years old.
So yesterday I got Mason and I ready to go and PTL that Will got to go with us. We started getting ready at like 1pm yesterday and I wanted to leave the house by 5:30 in order to make it to Atlanta in plenty of time. Needless to say I wasn't completely ready by the time Will got home because I had to give Mason a bottle at 2pm and 5pm. He was trying to be fussy and didn't want to work with me. We still managed to get ready and we actually left by like 5:45.
I wasn't sure that Will was going to get to make the trip because they have a job that has to be ready to go Sunday morning. They thought they had till Sunday but that was incorrect, their boss read the e-mail wrong. So they have had to bust tail in order to finish this job in time. He thought they would have to work a 10 hour day but we got lucky and they only worked 8 hours. We are very used to him not being able to accompany Mason and I to Atlanta because of his work schedule and he does work out of town a LOT.
We absolutely love when he is working close to home.
Love our family time!!
So we left the house at 5:45pm, we had to be at Wal-Mart but 7:15pm to meet my mom and be at the school by 7:30pm; its a hour and a half drive from our house to Atlanta. On our way we had to stop in Texarkana to get gas and then we were well on our way. Sweet little Mason was in the back seat talking to us from Texarkana to Atlanta. Will and I would be talking and Mason would just chime right in with his coos and gaga's. Its the most precious thing ever.
We did really good with time management because we were at Wal-Mart in plenty of time and we made it to the school by 7:30 and got a good parking spot and seat!
We waited for 30 minutes for it to start; but, it was nice because I got to see a few people I know and haven't seen in a while. I enjoyed being back at the Atlanta High School where I graduated 8 years ago.
Lord have mercy...8 years!!
Wow that's surreal for me.
They finally started the commencements, I believe we did the same thing how they seated the graduates. There were two lines one on each side of the field on the track and they came to the center and then turned and went down the sides of the seats and passed each other going to their chair. As this was going on there was quite a bit of yelling from family and friends of the graduates. Mason didn't like this too much so it was a passing session between Will and I. I started feeding Mason in order to try and call him down since it was like 8pm and he was ready for his bottle. Finally all the seniors were seated and then there was the speeches. Kayla and Aaron did a great job. By the time they were done; Mason was through eating. When they started calling each individual; we were sitting by a bunch of loud crews. Its like they almost yelled for everyone. Mason wasn't thrilled, it scared him every time and so I had to cover his ears a lot. It was getting hot too.
When all the students were done they got into their circle and threw their caps into the air.
I always LOVE that part.
This is when it really started hitting home for me and all the memories started flooding back. How I knew that, that night 8 years ago would be the last time our whole group would be together ever again. They played their class song and started setting off fireworks. It was by far the BEST graduation I have ever been to.
I thoroughly enjoyed it!
We went down on the field and I got pictures of Shelley and Emily. Shelley gave me her flower...it was so sweet!! I loved it. I am so proud of her!! I didn't get to see her but for like 5 minutes because she had to go to the library to get her diploma. We had to take mom to her car so she could get back and get Shelly's stuff. I wanted to see her for longer but she will come and visit me this summer.
I can NOT wait!
Well today has been rough because we didn't get home till late and we didn't get enough sleep before Will had to be up to get ready for work. I had to get up and fix his lunch for him because he couldn't do it all before he had to leave. He also needed a bigger lunch than normal since he is working a 12 hr day today. He will be getting off at 7pm but then its a 45 minute drive from their to home. I should have Mason eating and supper ready before he gets here.
Guess I will finish this up and get everything together!
Till next time,
